out of the shadows
and back in again -
first kiss

touch for touch
after lip brushes lip
what's left to fear?

Beki, this delightful little poem just brought back the night of my first kiss.

I was excited that this boy I adored asked me to a dance. While at the dance he stepped on one of my new shoes and broke the strap. Then when he spun me around his arm bashed my nose and it began to bleed down my brand new dress!

On the walk to my home we walked over some ice and I broke through it into a puddle of icy water that went over the top of my boots. He then took me to a laundromat and put them in a dryer and ruined, yes, my brand new boots!

When we finally got to my house, there was that awkward moment of "is he or isn't he" ~ "will she or won't she"... Anyhoo, as we stood "in the shadows", this hunk of a 6'5" guy leaned down (but not far enough!!!) and he planted a big juicy one right on my nose! lol

Meanwhile, my dog and its new litter of puppies where at the window along side of the front door, yipping and barking their cute litte heads off. Then when my date opened the door for me to go in, all the puppies raced out. Then my parents turned on the lights and came outside! ~ Oh, it was sooooo romantic! lol

Your poem brought it all back to me!

Beki, it would be so much fun to read of other readers' first kiss as well!

Pucker up for safety! ~ Or is that "buckle up for safety!" lol
