If I had but one day to live
I'll tell you what I'd do.
I'd take each precious moment and
I'd share them all with you.

I'd wake up in the morning,
Look and see you lying there
With mud pack on your face and
Curly rollers in your hair.

I'd see the cotton neatly placed
To keep your cute toes spreading
And notice how your skin cream
Makes small, wet spots in the bedding.

We'd sit down for some breakfast
Just like ordinary folks
And I would grin to see how you had
Broken all the yolks.

The toast would be burnt to a crisp,
The bacon blackened, too
But it would not detract me from
The wonderment of you.

We'd drive out to the countryside,
You'd say, "Don't drive so slow!"
And miss no opportunity
To tell me where to go.

You'd always let me know that
Everything I did was wrong
And how I was a moron as
We gaily drove along.

That evening we'd have company,
The Whites from down the street
Who dropped by on occasion when
They were too broke to eat.

I'd hear you rant and rave about
My small, low-paying job
And how the house was messy
'Cause your husband was a slob.

All three would laugh at my expense
That would be fine with me.
I'd revel in the sunlight
Of such warm comraderie.

Then, late at night, we'd go to bed.
I'd reach to hold you tight
And see the stare designed to kill
As you screamed, "Not tonight!!!!"

If I had but one day to live
I'll tell you what I'd do.
I'd take each precious moment and
I'd share them all with you.

And, as your snores rang in my ears
A smile would touch my face
Just knowing I would soon be waking
To a better place!

Hahahahaha!  At the onset, my thoughts were 'how touching'...rest assured that perspective quickly changed to 'OMG!'. *cackle*  Love the wit, Sir Dea...um...Deer (almost had an oxymoron there).

Balladeer
If I knew you would write it up and put it here. I'd never have told you my life story.

If you had but one day to live
I’ll tell you what I’d do
I’d take each retched moment and
Throw them right back at you

I’d wake up in the morning
Look and see your balding head
With a glare so blinding
I’d want to stay in bed

I’d see the drool sliding down your face
And hear the horror of your snore
Taking note of pooling on my sheets
silently thankful not to have to deal with much more

I’d make you a breakfast to show how much I care
I’d add something special to give your last day class
A bit of soap in your eggs
To assure you spend some time on your....task

LOL! Thanks, all, for enjoying this little nonsense...I appreciate you all (except Toe)

Susan..

I'll remember fondly all the times
You tried so hard to fake it.
You give me poison, sweetie gal,
I guarantee I'll take it!!!

No, that ain't true, you cutie thing.
I'll tell you this for sure.
If I were hitched to your sweet self
I'd find myself a cure!!

Balladeer...For a moment there I thought you were getting all mushy on us, but then I slapped myself three times and read the last stanza. Enjoyed...Paul
