Moon Beach

Moon beach and a low tide's ebb
washes me away, leaves me for dead
slowly but surely crawling back to her
up her fire escape without a word
transistor radio dreams surrounding
I try to resist her as records are spinning
and sound is dripping off the walls
melting on the beach, I hear the call
from an old scratchy doo wop record
in my landrover, I chase the sound I heard
watching the scene unfurl
calling the woman a girl
drinking till I can see the light
that she pressed to my chest like kryptonite
she's killing me, but it's so sweet
she smiles and knocks me off my feet
to awaken to the tide swallowing me
crabs claw at me, but I soon crawl free
and build a castle in the lunar sand
a white palace to help her understand
the complexities of my idiot heart
the paint is drying on her body art
as she presses against me
grinning a grin that spends me
like a shopping spree
shaking my September tree
to see what drops in her lap
she cuts my bark to drink my sap
spreads my love on her hip
tastes the honey on her fingertips
that's me, Mr. Marmalaide
married to the spring parade
that tramples my apartment floor
every night and day, she wants more
but I left the rest of me
in a jar of firefly green
on Moon beach
just out of reach
someday I'll sculp her eyes from the stars
and put them in Volkswagon cars
watch as they slip into the sea
carrying her precious love for me

sweet and simply put...love is like that sometimes...quit surreal and yet real.  Happy trails to you both, and thank you for such a lovely poem.

well sometimes it's not meant to be....beautifully said...

I don’t mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

It works both ways, tried and true, and we still don't see it coming.

Lots of great visuals here!

Enjoyed the ride, soul drifter~
