If a man takes no thought about what is distant,
he will find sorrow near at hand."
    Confucius, The Confucian Analects
************************************

Something said extinct appears,
A trick, mirage, or slight
Of  hand, perhaps
A Phoenix rises
From an earthen wilderness,

Birthing itself
From its own extrusions,
Pressed through the die
Of long passed history?

Reborn
This feathered solid
Fly's  triumphant
Into mans view once again,
On the highly polluted air
Of a much ignored past ....

The great bird lifts...

Waving white-truce flags,
Red-crest in full extent
Above a pointed beak
Of chiseled ivory,

Making a mockery
Of mans old errors;
Coming near at hand,
To be reexamined;

Hope rising from the ashes
Of our near at hand sorrows...

Hey ice...FANTASTIC my friend! This is an incredible piece of poetry. The image of the phoenix is so real in my mind at this moment...makes me not want to lay down and sleep...but rather sit here and ponder your words...even though I am running on 3 hours of sleep this morning. I love this poem my friend...never stop doing what you do oh so well.

"the grest bird lifts"

It certainly does in this poem.  Amazing!  I loved it!
