they pretended to be leaves
and floated from the trees
to walk on fours and threes
before the worship word came

and wrapped their poems
in the skins of animals
and gave them a eve
with out a day after

they dipped their pens
in the blood of rivers
and wrote on stones
the words of their gods

but writhed with serpents
and shared their nudity
their skin left slithering
on the insides of them

in pasteurized celebration

The more we change our methods, at times,
the better we find the original recipes
for health and...at times, happiness.

Without health, we have very little
that money can buy...
