Never close enough

0 posted 2005-04-25 12:19 PM

I could never reach that place
you held secret deep inside.

I could never love you enough
to make the memories subside.

You lived the past over and over again
never letting me through.

Never trusting me with your heart
...I never got to love YOU.

We crossed so many bridges
and scattered the fallen debris.

Still, you held the hurt inside
and never really loved ME.

We built our house on sand
even though we both knew better.

You pretending it wouldn't rain
...I prepared for the weather.

I could see the destruction
even before it came.

A house on sand is foolish
...a love not returned
the same.

Choose to live, and love and all the in betweens.  Dry your eyes, and shelter your heart and let the pendulum swing.
