Moonbeams-Jessie Wilcox-Smith

Watch for me...
when the moon is full,
I shall come.
Do not be alarmed
if no leaf is harmed...
or turned in the coming.
I never make much noise
You know that.

Just watch for the homing
curve of a sparrow's wing...
In the singing night ~
Or the final smallest
ripple as the waves
slip slumbering
into the sand..
Or the first firefly.

Small lights wait
for the night sometimes...
So small they
need the moon to help...
because this shining
is serious business
You know that.

Watch for me...
When the moon is full
and never pull at
this or that lever to
bring me..
You will only tire
and I require...
A certain freedom
Of coming and going.

So when the rest have gone...
Linger on-
Sit upon the largest rock...
You will feel me breathe
just behind your ear
Know my hand is on your shoulder...
gently turning you toward my moon,
Wait..
And I shall tell you in a whisper
"Isn't that just great?"

Watch for me
When the moon is full.

Enchantress

I wanted to write some words to your words

Hope you dont mind

Dave

Watch for me...
when the moon is full,
I shall come.

As the white of night

Do not be alarmed
if no leaf is harmed...
or turned in the coming.
I never make much noise
You know that.

In the depth of night

Just watch for the homing
curve of a sparrow's wing...
In the singing night ~
Or the final smallest
ripple as the waves
slip slumbering
into the sand..
Or the first firefly.

Raises my senses of the dawn

Small lights wait
for the night sometimes...
So small they
need the moon to help...
because this shining
is serious business
You know that.

As a new love is born

Watch for me...
When the moon is full
and never pull at
this or that lever to
bring me..
You will only tire
and I require...
A certain freedom
Of coming and going.

In sunsets early light

So when the rest have gone...
Linger on-
Sit upon the largest rock...
You will feel me breathe
just behind your ear
Know my hand is on your shoulder...
gently turning you toward my moon,
Wait..
And I shall tell you in a whisper
"Isn't that just great?"

Watch for me
When the moon is full.

For as a wind, a gentle breeze, a hurricane

I will drift as a caress for your thoughts

I felt this as soothing. Beautifully expressed, dear Nancy!

Once again I can't see the full moon because of the clouds!! What a pity!

What is that old Vaughn Monroe song?  "Racing with the moon", I believe, from the early fifties, which is probably before your time, but your lovely writing took me back to lots of long summer nights watching the moon pass.  Your gifted words never fail to please.  Hugs Ken

Such a tender poem that should be passed down generation to generation!  I can well imagine a mother sharing this with her children, but the picture you chose makes it even more special!  Truly enjoyed this, Nancy.  Thank you.

Absolutely stunning moonbeam story.  Thank you Nancy...and Dave!  I love the gentle intimacy in this and the wonder of nature that adds so much beauty to our lives...  poetry of the spirit, falling into poetry of thought and word!

Hugs,
