If I could be a movie star
Up there on stage or screen
I would be called a Lochinvar
A master of the scene.
If my name everybody knew
Up there on Broadway lights
My dimples and these eyes of blue
Would whet some appetites.

The girls would ooh and ahhh and sigh
Whenever I came walking by
And strain their necks so they could see
A simple little glimpse of me.
I'd hear them giggle
Watch them wiggle
Hoping they could catch my eye
Then tell their friends about the day
A movie star came walking by.

If I could be a movie star
My time would be well-spent.
I'd champion some causes
Like the world's environment
And, since I'd played a cowboy
Or detective in some show
Though I can't tell you how, boy
They would think I really know!

When I walked into restaurants
Or any of my favorite haunts
You can be sure the maitre d'
Would see that they took care of me
And all would stare
As I sat there
Nibbling on my caviar
Then tell their friends about the day
They had lunch with a movie star.

If I could be a movie star
It wouldn't be all laughs.
My hands would ache from signing
Fourteen million autographs
And, if I signed, it was ok
But, brother, woe is me
If I declined, they'd mutter
"What a stuck-up S.O.B.!!"

Some men would get defensive while
Their wives or girls threw me a smile
And they would feel lesser than
A handsome, big-time actor man
So fists would fly
And punch my eye
Or cut my cheek and leave a scar
Then tell their friends about the day
They punched out some big movie star!

If I took out some hotsy-totsy
Chick to some affair
I'd see the evil paparazzi
Camaras everywhere
See headlines blurt
The latest dirt even when it's clean
And see my picture plastered on
Some rag-tag magazine.

Conclusion is now very clear.
The cons outweigh the pros, I fear.
I'd love the glamour and applause
But I can sense too many flaws.
I'm not cut out to be a Lochinvar.
Though I'm sure I could do it well
That life for me would be pure hell.
On second thought
I'm glad I'm not
A famous movie star!

*pout*

Y'mean? No groupies? (I always thought that word sounded a bit like a breakfast cereal anyway)

*chuckle*

And I know this is meant as humor, but as I thought about it, I don't think that fame is a game I'd care to play either. But yanno, like it or not, you're one of Passion's royalty, so get it over it, already!

Serenity, I always thought that groupies were baby groupers - I used to fish for them! No, fame is not for me, either. I'd rather be a nonny mouse

Chris..thank you, dear lady, although the dimples have sunken into wrinkles and they are blah eyes now instead of blue....but it's nice being thought of as a leading man (who's following?)

(giggles) The way I see it is, if I was granted the opportunity to be in a major motion picture, I probably would accept it! But I also wouldn't ever put down Hollywood as first on my career plate. The truth is, there are many in Hollywood who write or star in adventure flicks but never go on vacations with their families or explore the world beyond Hollywood and Vine anymore, there are many who write or star in fantasy flicks but they are so absorbed in the special lighting and green screens that they don’t have time to explore their imaginations and wild ambitions, there are many who write or act in romance flicks but have never fallen in love, or at least have a lasting love relationship or a family to come home too. (sigh) Hollywood can certainly be a plastic environment, where all those catch-phrases you hear from Arnold Schwartzenegger and Clint Eastwood can be exciting at the cinema, but when you hear them through everyday dialogue, the catch-phrase culture can feel so long-winded. (sigh) Come to think of it, if you could just be there and be given the right to go in and out and not soak into Tinseltwon like a bouillon cube, I probably would do it, but I'd much rather be acculturating with my own community, yay! (smiles) This is wonderful, sweet friend, you always keep those bold couplets coming, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Balladeer, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Stars, like heroes, are always in the eye of the beholder. What is a lesser person to one, could be another's very own personal blessing.

And when there are so many stars in the sky, I imagine there are a few of us who have a favorite we always choose to look for.

It's good to see you writing again.

Meanwhile I see you are a great ballad singer! This is very good and no doubt some real movie star could confirm what you say ...
The question is how much do the cons or pros weigh? Some can't bear the cons of being a star and they waste away under that weight.

Great job!

Love, Margherita

A wonderful write Michael, as always!

If I could date a movie star,
I wonder who I’d choose,
Too many of them seem bizarre,
Those guys who top who’s whose.
If I could pick, I’d ask for brains,
Creativeness and wit,
A man whose rhyme & cadence reins,
Would be the perfect fit.

I’d need a man who knew his mind,
Wove stories of the sweetest kind,
A man who knew himself and more,
Yes that is who I would adore.
He’d be sincere,
He’d catch my ear,
With words that drifted me a’far,
A talent in the truest sense,
‘Tis you, my ‘Deer – our poet star!

I don't know...movie stars rise and fall in popularity...I can remember when I liked to watch Julia Roberts, now I feel like if I see her in another movie I'm going to throw up...movie stars are all right as long as they keep creating new one's...once they've been around awhile they wear out their welcome..James

Noah...I can picture you in the movies...something like 'The Wizard of Cause'!   No, we don't want you turning into a bullion cube, my friend. Let them make movies about you, not with you.

Martie...thank you, sweet lady. Awesome? Well, yes, I get some awwws every day!!

Seymour...movie stars are good at fooling

Sunshine...keep looking up and follow the Milky Way...

Enchantress..you sweetheart! Most times I feel like LackinFar but, if you feel that way, so be it!!!!

Margherita...that is so true. There are those who buckle under the weight of stardom. Just look at Speedy Gonzalez!!!!

Denise...thank you for thinking me a star, even when others consider me an assteroid. How's the arm???

Dixie...good to see you reading..thank you for your ever-present support!

Maureen....

latearrival...that news makes my day. That's wonderful! Thank you...

Mysteria...No, not bogus. I WAS a movie star but fell in love with this starlet who was on the X-Files who paid me no mind and instead married some teenage singer with way too much hair and was so poor he could only afford one name. The rejection runied my career so I moved one step up and became a bugman!

Misce..all humor contains some truth,,,that's why it's so funny! LOL! Glad you enjoyed...

adagio..how right you are. It's the old "Be careful what you wish for" scenario. Thanks for reading....

Kacey...I can think of no audience I'd rather have....thanks!!

Corinne...Well, Hollywood had their chance. I'd rather stay here with YOU!!!

Jmaes Michael, I agree, although I haven't gotten to the point of throwing up at the sight of Julia Robers...and hope I never do!!!!

Dear Kit, we should become movie stars together!!

I think that we could bring about
An act that's really classy.
I'll gladly be your Rin-Tin-Tin
If you will be my Lassie!

I will be your Charlie Brown
If you will be my Lucy.
COnsider me your Foxy Loxy
Be my goosy loosy!!

Lone Ranger I will gladly play
If you will be my Tonto.
Just say the word and I will be
Ontario-bound pronto!!

Tracy and Hepburn, move aside!
'Cause here comes Mike and Kit.
Whatever movie uses us
Is bound to be a hit!!

Just let me be your Robin Hood
And you be my Maid Marion.
The paparazzi will be shocked
How you and I will carry on! (arrgh!)

So meet me there in Hollywood.
We can't let this chance pass
And, if by chance we don't succeed,
We'll live by pumping gas!!!

'deer,
Movie stars may come and go,
Not a one do I actually know.
But here in this piptalk home,
Is a man with silver on his dome.
He writes of fame and movie stars,
Of wealth and girls and fancy cars.

Yet we know him as our Balladeer,
The one who brings us such good cheer.
Now and then he takes his paper and pen,
And enchants us as he writes again.
He makes us laugh and he even makes us cry,
But we couldn't be without he him...
We wouldn't even want to try.

Love ya'...big guy!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

If I could write like Balladeer
I'd never go outside---
Why would I?  All I need's right here
At my computer-side:
Ballads I'd write
Both day and night
Conforming to his stanza:
I'd soon be just as popular
As the one we're all big fans 'a

If I could write like Balladeer
The world would never see
Another day I spent without
Composing poetry:
Th'unfriendly knock
Of writer's block
Would never reach my door:
My girlfriend would abandon me,
But I would write some more!

Conclusion, it's much nicer to
Be wanting in my powers
Instead of have the talent to do
A few months' work in hours:
To him I leave it,
I conceive, it's
Better for all humankind
That none can write like 'Deer who lacks
His wisdom, wit, and mastermind.

If you would be a moviestar
I'd play your film all day
Imagining we drove your car
Onto a sunset's desert way
And you and I will play the game
Of stand-in actors on the scene
And I will be the lovely dame
The way you've never ever seen

But as you said, fame is not all
You wouldn't live the way you like
You'll be hopping from ball to ball
I think you'd rather just be Mike
Who dreams a lot and writes good stuff
Nothing wrong with that sweet Deer
The world of stars is mostly bluff
In opposite of Passions here

But....

If one day you will be a star
Then think of me, this Dutchie gal
Drive me 'round in your fancy car
And buy me a perfume of good smell
We'll dine and wine and talk and smile
And dance all night in light of moon
I'm sure it all will be worthwile
Uhhh....could you be a star real soon?

Always a pleasure to find your words,

If there's anything that sets this site apart from all the others it's the fun, good feeling and camraderie we share by doing things like this...from deep down, thank you.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and joining in...
