Wind Chimes

In the wind chimes of my mind
Sound the memories of remind
Playing pictures good and bad
Ones I love and ones of sad

The winds that make them dance for me
I feel at times but cannot see
They strike the cords within my heart
And plays at random each new start

I wish I could control the chimes
To only play the pleasant times
But winds and chimes are free to fall
On all and any of recall

So if you wish a pleasant song
Stay your mind to do no wrong
Keep your conscious at a simmer
And you will ring a better glimmer

And so the bells do ring for thee
It’s you that whip the butters ghee

Wise advice, dear Seymour.

Reminds me in a way of one of the last
conversations I had with my father before
he passed away...he spoke of his memories
and how he too often remembered only those
things he should have but did not do...
Perhaps this was why a gentle man was so
silent for so many years...only to let the
dam burst at the last moments...

Such a beautiful write Sy!
I love wind chimes and have them inside and out.
Sorry I'm a little late today..
I'll brew a fresh pot of tea for us
..we'll sit on the porch and listen to the wind chimes.
~Smiles, hugs & Tea, Nancy~

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul

it is a pretty interesting concept comparing your mind to wind chimes. i guess mine has just been one big bell, its just that its loud and i cant listen to myself thinking. so let your mind be a wind chime, as you nicely put it.

freewheelin,
Move a little distance from the bell.

Beki,

I loved this.  It's so truthful.  Life brings our way a Dragon which we try with all of our might to diverge paths from...but we cannot truly live until we encounter the Dragon.  I felt this poem...if it is not alreayd obvious.

"And so the bells do ring for thee"

Oh yes!  ...and don't they ring for us all.  I sometimes have thought wind chimes are like cats, any set seems to know what any other set has learned about human moods.

I have a small tree outside my house that is filled with chimes, yet sometimes they play only a single note and other times they play a symphony.

A good read.  Thanks for sharing it!

Oh, if that were only so.

This was beautiful from beginning to end, and I printed it and am going to frame it - it's lovely!
