A lotus blossomed there

we stared

trace the figure fingering
petals of a star and I
shift the sheath of blown to bits
as if it were a water show
fountains dappling in know
as quick as hollow point
she said
"easier to preen"
she smiled
as she stitched the lace in place
with a practiced risening:

"Gather buttons as you sew"
with ribbons from the baby toes
as eyelet loses starch too soon
and little zippers chugging trains
drag upon the plastic tracks
and life is all that we complain
Diapers make a cotton back
and tiny denim pockets laugh
at all the things we think we lack
with our wallets oh-so-big...

a lotus blossomed there

we stared

and life is all that we complain
petal of a star and I
would buy a ticket for that train
shifting sheath of blown to bits
petals of a scar and I
trace the fingers figuring
as quick as hollow point
I scream

the layers of the lilies peal
like bells of brakes upon the tracks
"eyelet" and the starch she lacked
as quick as hollow point are tears,
filling up the pond's despair--

yeah

a lotus blossomed here

and I

will always see her float

in ripples of her grave

I pray:

"A Lotus blossomed here."

I say,

whispering the rings...

Keep whispering into the rings,
m'dear...she's listening,
for she's so near...

Masterfully written, Karen. One of the best LOVE poems I've ever read. I'll be finding a very special shelf in my library for this beauty.

My hand silently to your cheek Karen.
To know this...the feelings are whispers.

You always know just how to reach into my chest and touch the deepest part of me..

and sometimes, that is exactly the reminder I need.

  love you lady.

Eloquence flows from you even in your darkest hours. I think of you often since you lost your sister ~ and every now and then I send you a loving hug.

thanks for reading

and I realize I'm poor company lately, so I'm trying very hard to leave the writing be, until I have something new to say.

Funny though, even when death becomes montonous, it doesn't lose it's impact for loss.

Thanks for listening to me...and I'll be around.

um...I think.

So don't get any funny ideas, K?????
