one
slow
silent
tear
today

only
one
this
time,
it’s
easier
now

but
the
hollow
aching
heat

the
flame
that
burns
like
dying
alone

one
tear
could
never
quench

Perhaps one tear can't quench that flame of pain... but it's very solitude can sear a path through a heart... This is exquisite... form and substance are perfect complements.

If anything so sad could deserve the term beautiful, this does.

And we wonder
where the salt
of the earth
comes from...

sometimes,
one tear.

Salted earth ~~ yes, at times it can feel like that's a really good description. But only at times, thank goodness.

becoming easier, but still a heavy tear...  Waiting for the time it rolls over a dimple, tickling it a bit, turning it into smiling memory

Within the form and words, the solitude and pain is delivered.  Powerful write in its simplicity.

I agree "If anything so sad could deserve the term beautiful, this does." Very well written too!

you just reminded me of my brother at my mother's funeral

kneeling, I looked up at him in time to catch a glimpse of that one tear streaming

There is so much beauty in your words.
How very poignant, like dying alone!  *sigh*
You made my eyes water, James_A~
