Listening to every heart

Carnivorous Presence

This day seems to hang
reflectively,
encumbered, as it is,
when cumulus begin to tower,
darkening with some mystery beyond
nature, a threat to skies
as oblivion of blue

just happens.

In the darkening, thunder rumbles
low and distant, crouching
like a panther, with its deep roar
low in its throat,
a fierce risk lingering,
crawling upward on my skin.

In the middle of tulips and hyacinth,
where squirrels and rabbits multiply;
beneath budding apple trees and crabapple lace,
birds are singing a welcome to spring,
as redbuds bloom with lush-filled grace

a black panther crawls along the plains
ready to devour life
hungrily.

ah, and I miss the opportunity to experience lightning and thunder! We did have some here this year, though, really unusual. But nothing like what you get there. I remember one night during a business trip to KC, alone in my room, something like the 17th floor of the downtown Marriott (kind of a spooky old place), watching the flashes and listening to the thunder outside.

And also remember jumping out of my skin when one hit a couple of blocks away and set off all the car alarms!

Hope as is well in your world,

hugs,

Corinne

Just as long as those overgrown vacuum
cleaners don't start sucking away, all is
ok with this boy...

You wrote it beautifully dear lady....
Very nicely done.

The imagery grabbed me in your words, as I picture them in my mind, great stuff.

You gather the innocent birds and deadly cats of life into a frenzied cage that never lets us forget that there is good and evil about.  Well done!!  KJ

As I tried to sleep last night I heard it..

and you described it well.

I love Florida storms.  In the daylight.

This left me in want of a good spring thunderstorm.
Excellent write hip-sis.

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul
