I am proud and yet afraid
I wonder if they will find out
Sometimes I hear their thoughts of me
I see the eyes of billions stare
and I want that they should see--
I am proud and yet afraid.

I pretend I am celebrity
I feel hands reach out for me
I touch the ones not threatening
I worry of the others
I cry for what's ahead of me--
I am proud and yet afraid.

I understand I am to blame
I even say it's all my fault
I dream the bridge is way too high
as I try to fix it all
I hope that it will all work out.
I am proud and yet afraid.

Ralph, Welcome to Passions! I've watched - and you're having fun, and smiling already. Please, do not be afraid - for this is a wonderful home of poets, writers, and family...literally!

Please be sure to check your e-mail for a very Special Greeting!

Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen?  Keeping in mind, I must stand close...and keep my promises...

WELCOME TO PASSIONS RALPH!
I very much enjoyed your first post and challenge.
Looking forward to reading more of your work.

Ralph?

Thanks for doing this one first--it was and IS a very personal introduction, but I wanted everyone here to see you as I do--vulnerable and yet strong.

I am proud too, and I was afraid. But I think you'll do just fine here.

This was always one of my favorite challenges.  Very telling portrait you have painted here.  Welcome to Passions, indeed.

You are a wonderful heart and soul, a very strong man with much to share.
I am so very sorry you lost your Leah, who was obviously an incredibly wonderful loving lady.
When you are ready, I'd love to read some of those 'heart' thoughts you've been carrying around in your head. Take your time, healing is a lifetime happening. May your heart be a strong adagio.
