In Kansas winds blow mighty strong,
From dawn to dusk, blow all day long,
In summer wind comes from the south,
Much as if from Hades’ mouth,
Hot and searing, sucks you dry,
Brings down the sun from heavens high,
And then the winter’s freezing gale,
Blizzard’s snow on north wind’s wail,
It is as if one’s lungs catch fire,
From icy bite of north pole’s ire.
Thunderstorms mark come of spring,
Hell’s mighty fury, twisters bring,
But also comes the drench of rains,
Upon spring winds across flat plains,
Now autumn gives the wind a rest,
A special time, when plains are blessed,
By gentle cooling; whispered breeze,
To paint fall colors on the trees,
I think that I shall never leave,
The State of Kansas, for I believe,
Without the wind my life would wilt,
For with the winds my life was built.

There must be a lot of you trying for jobs on the Tourist Board

People have often used Kansas to bring home messages to people

You bring home a message but I wonder

Well, if I ever visit, I now know when it would be. FALL! I felt enough of those arctic winds in Alaska, and hot dry Santa Ana's in So Cal.
This is such a wonderfully rhymed write!

Now is a good time, too, Kacy...
we may have to dodge a flying cow now and then, though...like tonight!

Tim

I love the wind....and would like to experience the ones in Kansas....someday maybe I will.  Wonderfully written poem, as you always do!
