I played with a flashlight
one night;
intriguing little black box,
Man’s design.
So easy — flip a switch and its beam travels to the stars
followed by my own inquisitive gaze —

And there we were, parallel beams of
fragile existence, searching the depths
of space for answers —

In time the intensity of its light
slowly turned dimmer, then dimmer yet —
till its filament of life grew cold —

I remain, for now,
still searching...wondering...
who holds my switch —

An intriguing poem....thinking here that the closest place to buy batteries, holds the switch...and maybe you should get some extras...then you'll hold the switch for a longer time.
