in the shadows

When the cold winds of winter
blow the sun from my soul
and thick clouds of night
swirl around me,
when I reach out for warmth
when I stagger and fall,
why, tell me why are you sleeping?

I need you to remind me, to throw a cue from the lights;
it's just the time of my life that betrays me
alone and frightened of noise in the night;
it's just the winds outside the doors of time
that blow cold visions through cracks in my soul
to leave me in shadows with no where to hide,
but I forget, tell me why are you sleeping?

You know sometimes I lose track
of who's living or dead;
the dead with all the humor and the patience
born out of access to eternity don't always raise a hand
unless the perfect question is asked correctly;
this piece alone proves I'm not prone to perfection.

When cold winds of winter
shred the sun in my soul
and thick clouds of night
rage around me,
when I reach out for warmth
when I stagger and fall,
why, tell me why are you sleeping?

When I need reminding, a cue from the lights,
when my life leaves me lonely and old,
frightened of noise in the night;
when the Ba'ansidhe beyond the doors of time
blow cold visions through my soul,
when I am left in shadows
with no warmth in which to hide,
I forget, tell me why are you sleeping?

I have friends who are dead, I'm old enough,
I have enemies who are alive, I've earned their enmity,
there is security with both;
living friendships are fragile, dead enemies wait.

theyre just pretending to keep you dancing a bit longer.

I know your warmth, even in winter...but every body must sleep....I guess timing is everything, some times...most times!

"why, tell me why are you sleeping?"

So I can dream of them, of course.

I wish I could have your baby. *laughing*

lol Karen...

I have had similar thoughts.  I want to close my eyes and understand him completely.

Icy, you are the most fascinating man.
