in the shadows

Hard rain pounding down,
window panes do their job,
they let me see the world
streaming down,
in just distortion,
it is the way
this old world looks today;
no birds flying
against the living wind,
strong walls
keep me safe within,
my thoughts wander
street gutters racing wide,
I watch the ragged rain clouds fly,
my soul wonders
safely tucked inside,
dark shadows fill the Eastern sky,
when does distortion clarify?
This storm will wash away
in this moment’s reality
all of Winter’s sad debris,
and when it’s gone
the sun will shine,
what will it ask of me?

when does distortion clarify?

and we share the same skies and old world view today...

This is a perfect poem for this morning.
It is raining, windy, and gloomy,a morning for self examination and realization that the "sad debris" is being washed away.

Enjoyed.

What wonderful visions you bring to my mind!
Even in the downpour, I feel the renewal in this rendering.  Excellent.

*sigh* I so love how you think and write.

I love rain.  I never use an umbrella, I would rather get soaked.  The other day I was driving in the pouring rain and it smelled so good.  Like spring.

Next time it pours go out, and let it soak you.

The sun is pouring here today....making shadows out my window...yet, inside feels a bit soggy.  The feeling may be weather related to an extent, but the rest is just how I feel.

I am sure you will know the answer when the questions come - I really enjoyed the images in this and the thoughts it brought to my mind -

in, and a little jealous, at how perfectly you capture a mood.

we just had storms so bad here dumping over 14 inches of rain, flooding people in their cars and out of their homes...some areas it was waist-deep

I'm tired of the rain myself

still trying to figure out how to get the water out of my floorboards when I don't have a wet vac

the rain gods suck
