They should have known your lips were red.
cherries, with a hint of blood
They should have known your cheeks would match--
we told them you were elegant.
They should have teased your bangs to "poof".
They should have lined your eyes in tint
and curled the ringlets round your eyes
and matched your blush as if the grin
the joke you'd heard
was kept instead
of lady tightened lips...I said

"This is not my sister,"
as I held our other tight
I'm going to cry alot tonight
thinking how I'll miss you so...
and I forgot to say the words
the ones that so embarrassed us-
the three that made you punch my arm
as if, as if, there ever was
a life without the three of us
standing stout the way of harm
as if we'd ever stand alone
quivering the oaken leaf
and birthing bud of the acorns -
giving life to Oaks.

You had to die alone, you know.
We would have fought a demon's keep.
thinking now I'll miss you so
You always said I think too deep.
I always joked, "How would you know?"

and then you'd punch my arm again...

They should have known your lips were red
But they got your chin just right.
Firm, a stubborn "what is right"
and "right is what will be," but I
lost a bit of me today
because I love you totally
wishing I could laugh at you
for the punch that never bruised

weakling superwoman strength

Rubbing empty arms tonight -
mocking-hug-myself-I lied.
I held your kids and they held me.
I rocked them as they wiped my eyes
and they begged me not to die
because they needed me...

my god

And I...and I, (oh god)
I cried
I couldn't promise anything
but flowers on your grave that we
will water with our tears, and I
pray I find your strength for that-

teach us continuity?

and how to say the 'I-love-yous'
before the turn of spade --
and blue
bruises of the proof in clay--

meant for tiny grandhand prints

in frames upon the wall, we need
the warmth of you
made porcelain--
your gripped lips upon our cheeks

weakling superwoman strength

They should have known your lips were red.

smiled and cried. i want to avoid a cliched 'she'd be proud', because it's obvious that she was. i've seen how you and twist interact, i know the power of the twisted triad. and don't think for a second that power has weakened, it's only been strengthened, take care of you and twist. i wish i had the right words, and wish i didn't have the distance. hugs

thank you all

I'll try very hard to behave myself this time, too.

(Perhaps just one more tribute? pretty please?
I'm so proud of her, I want to share her with you all.)

She was truly an amazing person and a light to whomever she met.

I thank you all for allowing to voice my sorrow here. You are all wonderful.

I read this earlier today and its been with me ever since...
I think it will be with me for a long time...
its hard to put into words just how ...

(yes...you know) .....

and now...to this reply...

quote: "Perhaps just one more tribute? pretty please?"

first of all...
you dont ever have to ask anyones permission to write....

second of all...
Id like to see anyone try and stop you.

third...
they'll  have to go thru me.

write your heart baby...its how we heal.

love you KA

It's only words and words are all I have to take your heart away.

You heard what the boss said , write it out Karen.  Yes, they should have known her lips were red.
Wish I was there to water the flowers with you - but I do send my heart.

Serenity, I never had a sister, But I did have three daughters. Because of that I can appreciate the love you hold for your beloved. Your words as always, so touching, brought a tear or two and more to these old eyes. Much love to you, marty

This is my last "thank you" on this thread, and it goes to Cathy, for leaving me with a legacy of love, and senses of both propriety and priority.

I adored her, folks.

Thank you, for helping me honor her memory.

She was a beautiful lady.

Karen... Cleanse the soul of sadness with your words and wash away the loneiness with teardrops, but keep her memory within you Superwoman strong.
