Spring Awakens

This morning I awakened to the light;
The bright day that You had prepared for me.
I thank You for your angel in the night
Who guarded me in sleep so carefully.

Please let me use this day that You have given
In works that will be pleasing unto You.
Let no one on this Earth or in your Heaven
Hear phrases from my lips that are untrue.

The hills I gaze on through my window pane
Are covered with the winter's fallen snow.
They tower over valley and the plain
And watch as Spring brings forth her early show.

The pine trees shaking off their heavy snows,
Decidious trees with leaves in shades of green,
Unfurling buds awake from winter's doze
And fields of daffodils compelete the scene.

I view these first few actors with elation
Knowing many more are waiting in the wings.
With gratitude I watch the transformation
And marvel at the glory springtime brings.

I thank you Lord for giving me this season
When all my world is fresh, lovely and new.
This grand performance is but one more reason
To bend my knee in thankfulness to You.
