This "Easter I'll not soon forget" began about like most.
One son, his wife, two children (grand), my wife and I would host.
Another son, his girlfriend, and one more friend made nine
to organize an egg hunt for the kids, and then, to dine.

We'd settled on the Saturday before, when all could come.
Logistics factor highly in our goings, to and from.
The wife and I made ready all the trappings for our feast,
and then the Easter Bunny showed the nature of the beast!

For all the times we'd welcomed him into our clans' abode,
he'd chosen to repay us with a septic overflowed!
I might have seen it coming if I'd recognized the signs,
but why'd it have to happen at my Easter feast for nine?

T'was 2 P.M. and counting, I would have to scramble fast.
All my eggs were in one basket, and my best hope was my last.
Were it not for good ol' Sparky, 'bout a stones throw up the road,
Easter would be a disaster with our septic overflowed.

All this time I still was fixin' up my grill to cook some food
on my front porch, but, I'll tell ya, that I weren't much in the mood,
when I heard a sound a-comin' that was music to my ears,
up the highway, on his backhoe, came ol' Sparky shiftin' gears .

Now some might think I'm kiddin', or, I just make this stuff up,
but, the stuff that runneth over wasn't comin' from no cup,
and the hour was getting closer, I'd no time to deal with waste,
so I took off in my pick-up truck to Sparkys' house, poste haste!

I got to Sparkys' just in time to chat and have a beer.
I told him of my problem and of dinner drawing near.
By four o'clock  the backhoe and ol' Spark were on the road
to help one flustered Moose dig up his septic, overflowed.

Four thirty and the dig was done, the problem was revealed,
the tank was full and therefore "Stuff" couldn't get to the leach-field.
The answer to the question at this time which had me stumped,
was whare on moments notice could I get the darn thing pumped?

Well, once again ol' Sparky new a guy and made some calls,
he left the guy a message, and I figured that it all
was over for my hopes of having toilets I could flush,
but, in the end conclusions are a thing one shouldn't rush.

At five o'clock ol' Sparky and his backhoe left my yard.
The kids pulled in for dinner , the phone rang,
though it's hard,
for people to believe right up until this very day,
the Super Duper Pooper Scooper truck was on the way!

We had our Easter dinner and our egg hunt, all went well.
I won't get into details 'bout the way a septic smells.
I guess my point in telling this is, when all hope seems lost,
a buddy with a backhoe's worth whatever it might cost!

And, that's the tale of Easter, one I will not soon forget.
The kind of stress that drives you nuts, most certainly, and yet,
a happy ending that restores your faith in mans' good will,
that is of course, until such time, as you recieve their bill!

ROTFL - Well - When mine backed up, I just found a rotor-rooter-tooter that promised they charge the SAME no matter what the day... What's wrong with this picture?  I think we had to take out a second mortgage to pay that bill.

This true story is what great poems are made, of Sir Moose...

Hey Doc! A most excellent rendering of the day's events.  A tale that ranks with the best. Though I believe Murphy is more to blame than Peter Cottontail.  Peace my friend.
