Listening to every heart

Times Three

Reminded, times three today,
by way of corresponding lines
of lives who have touched me true
and this, yes this, would share with you

of a witty play which in rushing forth
with courses that rut life in course,
of endings coming far too soon
to those living light
and pleasure, to those who bring such to
others around them
whether by smile, or wile, or Wit
or ordinary, ornery gaiety…

or through poetry or writings, or
filmed imaginations, whose
most thoughtful ponderings akin to them,
those who find wisdom in lexis
and logic,
and damn from each one
short courses to death
that tear from us time to time
that we would discover more…

so I call again words long gone
which live for me in
links to Donne and heed the sounds
which hold head high

Death... be not proud…

And death is not, for here, now, see
the loves I hold in friendships three
who fight and rally in harmony
and dwell not in what might be
but what would cast a pall over death
and fight their best
until it be their choice to rest…

nay, fear death? I and they, we
fear thee not…
for memories shall never rot,
as merry is to merry who be,
and face in new beginnings
a kinder and gentler revelry.

~*~

Dedicated to three who will always be survivors; to one in the East, one in the South, and for Terri,
and for what they have laid down in their paths….

memories shall never rot....no truer words have ever been spoken. There are two times they hold importance in our lives - making them and recalling them. There is nothing more precious...except, perhaps, your words...

for memories shall never rot,

How very true... and with each recall, we're sustained.

Excellent write!!
