Where no tyranny is tolerable

If euthanasia is illegal,
then how can one method
used in its commission be legal?
If the judges of the Ninth Circuit
thumb their noses at the Congress and Executive,
why not go even farther?
Let's just disconnect the Pope?
He's an old man, isn't he?
He doesn't want to live like this,
doesn't he?
He would die before too long,
wouldn't he?
He's going straight to Heaven, isn't he?
Why don't we do this to the Holy Fatter?
After all,
He can't talk, can't he?
Why don't the judges of the Ninth Circuit
go over there and pull the plug themselves.
He's just a frail old man, isn't he?

You can be the judge.

Interesting...if we are willing to allow these decisions to be made by means of a Judge...what if the Judge decides to change the laws a little bit...and make something legal that perhaps fifty per cent of the people consider illegal...such as abortion...James

Jaime, I know/feel/believe you are drawing a parallel between the Pope and Terri Schiavo. I commend you for this poem.  As I stated in another thread, I wonder if the Pope will be there, greeting Terri.  I find it highly apropos to have them both leave the world at the same time; if only so he can explain to her why God let her be a fine example as to how wrong things have gone in our world today.

Bless you, Jaime...for all that you have been through, for all that you keep on giving!

Thank you for sharing these questionable thoughts with us.

There you go again, Starlight, shining your beacon of mind-light onto a dark point few are willing to see. And even though I believe in euthanasia, I cannot believe we can stoop so low as to intentionally starve a human to death. That is not death with dignity, nor is it merciful. And you know? I had the same thoughts when I heard the Pope was on a feeding tube...would someone pull his plug????
