I might as well be dead myself
contagioning the blister's bleed
and digging up the scraps of scrapes
a fingernail of nudge and need
as if the scab were all I screamed
in an "oh" of underledge
a fingernail beneath the beg
edges and the hedge of trust
peel
away the best of us
the underskin away from "heal"
and ponder thin beneath the light
as if we saw the past within
as if the blood makes it alright--

picking at the scab

we bleed

and laugh the wound away...

we may laugh the wound away, but does it really ever leave?  Sometimes it does....
Sometimes no matter how we bandage it, it festers for years....

Well done

touching those fingernails
with gentle healing salve,
while offering both shoulders
for the tears that must escape

damn the dam
let loose the flood, m'friend

Yes, I know that kind of pain that you so aptly described. And yes, we can hopefully laugh the wound away.
But often there are scars that remain ~ and those we need to kiss away.

Your write was raw and real ~ and ever so identifiable at times in my own life.

You are a fine poetess ~ whether or not you are in your Serene mode!

Love & Light,
Linda

Such powerful pain you write, Serenity.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

I have always pondered exactly why we exist in this microcosm we so haughtily refer to as "the World"  as we know it, and have spent many nights wondering why One would put us through such trials.  It seems quite cruel and selfish when thinking of the ideal that our pain, love, loss, happiness is experienced for another's experience.

I have spent many nights with lost faith, I still do, in myself, this life, my beliefs, my place HERE and NOW and why things turn the way they do. I have cried many nights thinking much too hard.

I came to the conclusion, as of late, after one terrible instance here and have decided that utter perfect happiness cannot be achieved here.  It is not meant to be achieved here.  This is the training class, the learning ground, flight school.

And we are just beginning . . .

  My Lady . . .

For all of those roads your weary feet have padded down.

Serenity...Healing is a slow process but it does work sort of like the scab protecting the underneath of our hearts.
Glad too read you again...Paul

This is an amazing piece of writing Karen.  Even moreso when I consider how rare the ability to so precisely capture one's thoughts to word, while still reeling from the difference one day can make.

I'm thinkin' about ya K.  Be well...
