Blue Satellites

Blue satellites
circling 'round my bed
as I try to sleep off the feelings you've imposed on me
it's your fault that I'm dreaming in black and white
but it's my fault for pissing you off
Blue letters on a black Tuesday
piling up in my mind
strap a rocket to my back
and kiss me goodbye
I'll tell the moon you said hello
the sparks from your eyes
fueling my comet ride
across the cosmos just to find
a dirty Ohio license plate
with your name on it
with your heart hanging on the powerlines
and my eyes set on the ghostly shape of you
you're to blame for packing Seattle rain
inside my lunchbox
Tell me what's wrong with you
are you trying to kill me?
Tell me the answer to your double X code
then maybe we could dance a rosepetal waltz
to the final jangling grooves of your favorite Byrds record
I've seen you
dressed in pink and white
opening up a book of dawn
the insomnia in my eyes melting with the sun
and I'm stuck like candy to the memory of you
All through the weekend I'm being dragged down by the summer rain
this damn Los Angeles freeway's got me boxed in again
her smile is a clothespin and I'm hanging out the dry
but the wind blows so cold
and the wind's colors travel my skin
These days spent with her pass through my heart
out the backdoor, and back again
like a boomerang
like a heartattack
it's been waiting to happen all day
Somewhere on Hollywood & Vine
I fall asleep to the tune of the stoplights
and dream of my favorite song
that hasn't played on the radio since 1966
It amazes me
I can't decide if you're my silver angel
or do I see the devil in your grin
but you know you're better than the world
you know perfectly well
so stop your soft blushing cheeks
from cutting through me already
I love you already
I guess I should've told right from the start
before you climbed up my latters
sneaking in the inky nighttime
before you crawled inside my bones
sapping on the inky marrow of me
Meet me
please say you'll meet me
in the dead end streets of dreaming
remembering dreams of baseball cars in bicycle spokes
yellow brick roads and pretty Southern debutantes
and hey, you know Elizabeth
you belong somewhere in there
circling 'round my soul
like a blue satellite

an enjoyable trip for the reader, if not the writer
living and loving vicariously is so much less painful than 3D reality

Wonderful!  The imagery and the emotion all come through so clearly to me.  Thank you for the trip!

I thought of variations all the time I read this

A fabric for "whatever you feel" you direct in words and meaning but excellent
