LOST AND ADRIFT
~ Linda L. Dowd ~

Shadows now linger where sun had once shone,
And gone are the sunrises of past golden dawn.
My faith, it does wane, with the fading of light,
As I slip into the dark of an unending night.

I dissipate into an encompassing fog,
And am swallowed down into a bottomless bog.
My dreams have all plummeted back down to earth,
For I've lost my élan and my displays of mirth.

No longer do I, hear the nightingales sing,
Nor the laughter of children ~ or church bells ring.
The moon and the stars cease to light up the sky,
~ They’re hidden by nimbus that rain tears I cry.

The strength has been drained from my body, mind, soul.
And all that remains is small fraction of whole.
I am lost and adrift on dark river of gloom,
I’m the bud of a rose that never shall bloom.

Our Earth Angel in a bottomless bog??
I think not!!
Nay never you m'dear.
~Sending bog clearing hugs your way, Nancy~

For it was not into my ear you whispered
But into my heart
It was not my lips you kissed
But my soul

Such versatility you have in writing mood setting poetry!  You can lift my spirits up or down with just the angle of your pen!  It is always a pleasure to read your poetry whether the tide is high or low.

Eric ~

That poem may have flowed from my pen ~ but not from my heart. I enjoy writing outside of the box. Mind you, I had felt "Lost and Adrift" at one point in my life ~ but I never did lose my faith that all would eventually turn out for my higher good. And it always has!

I’m the bud of a rose that never shall bloom.

Oh... I love this!!! I'd highlighted several lines that could be my own... but this... the sadness for potential not fulfilled... that's just incredible. *S*

Whatever shades you choose, your palette always produces a painting to treasure. *S*

each of us have sadness in us as well as love and happiness

it's good to write it out sometimes even though the writer doesn't really feel it, it's still from the heart
