Listening to every heart

~*~

Kansas
          is an odd place

where else can you find seagulls
massing
over March green
that doesn’t move

They come in
                 with the gulf stream
calling Kansas home [again], then
take thoughts away

back to the sea

and you wonder why
shells are found
in Kansas.

The gulls come home,
like their ancestors,
when this vast              was under water

How easy to see Kansas again
when someone talks to you
of Dorothy
or Toto

How easy it is to think it
just one way
flat
black and white
dust
and tornadoes

They don’t see these
                        vast swellings
of land

nor blowing
of wind

Which is easy to miss
if you are not looking

or feeling

...

I can create the wind ~

I can blow
and you would hear

Kansas

But only if I am right by your ear

would you feel it

Now it's my turn....
Dang woman, what a drift you weave, images taking the reader to all kinds of lovely places...the admiration which seeps through your words, the confidence that walks with you, is quit the gift in knowing you...
And....I ain't whistlin Dixie...
No pun intended on PS....

to Kansas!  (Wish I could see your lovely state for myself, but until then, you've sketched attractive scenery to entice!)

Sissie

I can see very well how the fields of wheat are indeed like the sea, and the sound of the wind within them, the crash of waves...yes, I can see...thanks to you!!

Karilea, that was exceptionally lovely. I found myself clicking my heels and saying,"I want to go home. I want to go home. I want to go to your Kansas home!"

No one can affect the weather (though some do pretend to with a pretty convincing schtick....), but if I could I'd conjure a storm that would sweep you, house and all, away from Kansas and southward to some warm place near the sea....and I'd whomp any wiz who tried to bring you back!

Smiling at the 'Kansas' canvas, an ocean of thoughts; and I thought 'SEA' gulls never went that far inland except to congregate around the city dumps!

Reads like a day trip, poeticly speaking.
You took me there Karilea, and it is beautiful.
