i thought since i've never done a challenge, i might try.

I AM

I am free yet imprisoned
I wonder if there's a higher power because i know
I hear a voice through the sky.
I see my heart beating, pulsing and
I want nothing more than the kiss of love
I am free yet imprisoned

I pretend i feel the beat of life when
I feel only the breeze
I touch these scars and
I worry that i'll be forgotten so
I cry to remind myself that i'm human
I am free yet imprisoned

I understand that to live is to hurt and
I say that i accept that but
I dream that maybe, just maybe i'll survive intact.
I try to have the world love me and
I hope that i won't die trying
I am free yet imprisoned

You demonstrate exactly what I love (the first thing) about this challenge--there is no wrong way to say how you feel.

The second thing I love about this challenge is that it bridges our distances, as we realize, as we express our deepest, that what we feel we are, is actually very common.

Like this, lovie:

"I am free yet imprisoned"

YES

an understanding hug from me:

"I dream that maybe, just maybe i'll survive intact."
I have said almost the same thing...more than once in my life.

This challenge is a child's exercise, literally meant to give young hearts a taste of what it is to create a poem....in the hands of master poets it has resulted in excellence.

It almost seems that each poem in this series is better than the ones before it. This one comes after some fine expositions, and it's one of the best yet. I'm truly glad I stopped to read it.
