Lost And Found

All this time
I've been searching
inside, outside myself
wasted time
hoping, wishing
for the looks, the wealth
and the answers to my unasked questions
to be just around the bend
but that bend is so long and bitterly cold
so I wrote this song to open my soul
and stare into it, find a meaning
attached to my feelings this evening

Just like a man,
I won't admit I'm lost
and I won't understand just who I am
till I'm found again

A little of your time
all I'm asking for tonight
within, without me
crawl inside my mind
with your insight
tell me what you see
are there still colors in my rattling head
and are they still beautiful
beautiful but the rainbow inside me on hold
so I wring these emotions out of my soul
and stare at them with fear
that one day the beauty will disappear

Just like a man,
I won't admit I'm lost
and I won't understand just who I am
till I'm found again

So someone find me already
I won't gamble till the dice are tossed
and my fingers are crossed
and all sevens
click your heels, go to heaven
ask all the angels what it all comes down to
love, happiness, music, success?
they just smile and say "yes"

A little bit of mind
and a lot of heart and soul
can bring me to somebody
somebody out there
I'd like to think so
to tell me what to see
are the things I write, the loneliness I feel
just temporary things
I hope for yes on the latter, no on the former
through song I look for her
through rhyme I try to understand me
and maybe someday I'll be

Just like a man should be
I admit right now I'm lost
I'll understand just who I am
when I'm found again

It's alright
sitting in the lost and found
it gets a little cold, a little lonesome at night
but I know this puppy at the pound will discover himself
in the arms of someone who'll love him
hey, I won't bite
it's alright

Darlin, this was such a bittersweet write...the wealth and love is right there inside you...there is no other that can compare...

Hugs and many thanks for such a lovely write...

soul drifter, I commend you on a very fine piece of poetic soul-searching.

Not only was it beautifully written, but it could not help but touch the heart ~ and soul ~ of any reader.

You dear poet, are rich within yourself!

Sending you an extra-warm, loving hug,
Linda
