I never knew
I'd feel like this...
Memories flashing by
All the frustrations
of learning how to
treat you well
The tears of joy
when we showed them all
that we were a team, friends
for life
and all the drives we made
... trying to reach
the end of world

I never knew I'd feel
like this...

Sad...
for saying
farewell
... to my very first car.

Oh, yes! I fondly remember my first car. I saved up my money until I could pay cash for it. I had it customized into my dream car and I got a thrill every time I got behind the steering wheel!

I understand where you are coming from with this nostagic write. Awww yeas, the memories...

Yes a first car is something that always stays within you, plus the things you asked it to do, that now seem easy.

Nice words and I would like to say that in 3 months in Brussels (Zaventum), I had more friends that I have had in any country in 4 times that.

You have my respect.

*smile*  Well stated!

My first car I built from a junk that a guy paid me to remove from his yard.  Many memories you have stirred tonight.  Thanks!

Actually it was an old Pontiac stick shift in San Francisco that I had to park facing down hill so I could get it rolling and pop the clutch to get it started since the starter was kapoot.  Far as I know it's still sitting there waiting for someone to start it rolling....don't miss it at all!!

This was an excellent write, you.

LOL...jimmy

1964 Valiant.....that a couple of college boys had owned before me and hung the damnedest V-8 in, in place of the slant-six it came with....that thing was a tire store bonanza.....I never did figure out what they'd done to that engine....

And yeah, I wish I had it sitting out in the driveway right now -- I still miss it!

It wasn't my first that brought tears,  a
second certainly did...fast as the winds
that touched it,  stirring the soul of
a 21 year old...still does.

Thanx for the jog of memory!

1976 Datsun (before the name chance, obviously) B210 hatchback. It was a nasty mustard color, and had 4 on the floor...

Great write, zenny. THanks for the memories.

1956 Chevy....was stollen in San Francisco when I left the keys in ignition while I ran into somewhere to do something.  Two years later, my parents found it sitting on a SF street...completely stripped....sigh!  I loved that car!

My ex bought our "first" car [his second, I believe, maybe third], a 1969 rust-colored Opel. I think it got 30 mpg or some such thing. Just before we were married, I went on a last family vacation. He stayed behind as he was in the AF, put in a 24 hour day, then went to a party for one of the fellows who was getting out. Drank too much, fell asleep driving home, rolled the car and totalled it.

The fact that he fell asleep was what kept him alive.

The second car that he bought to replace the first one was a junker...don't even remember the make. And I had to pay on the balance of the new car for two more years...

Geez...

They just picked up my (first) car, the engine totally broke.  It was an opel corsa of 1994.  Spend some great years with it.
But oh well, the second car isn't far away

Thx all for ur kind replies too, don't u love reading all those memories, too?

Yes I remember my first car. 1986 Hyundai Pony. Hated that thing. Sure it got good gas mileage...but it went 0-60 in about 6 blocks. My newest car 2004 Oldsmobile Alero is fully loaded...my kind of car. (Best car I ever owned - 1995 Ford Thunderbird.) Loved that car 'til the day the gas tank fell off and it caught fire on the highway. That was a cool car...if I could ever find one in mint condition again you are darn right I'd buy it. LOL!

everyone remembers their first car

mine was a Mustang Fastback, not sure of the year but it was a classic...maybe 1968?

never got to drive it though, dad was afraid I'd kill myself. He was going to modify the V-8 to something less powerful, but I got on a Greyhound instead.

Seems to have suited both of us just fine.
