It sickens me
The things I see
You humans kill each other
With no regard
For how you’ve scarred
And beaten on your brother
You drop a shell
Blow them to hell
Then send love to your mother
Next day repeat
With no retreat
You’re off to kill another

How is this so
Did you not know
All that you can aspire
But still it’s war
I want no more
It’s of this game I tire
The liquid power
You devour
Shortly will expire
When all you see
Machinery
You’ll have to then retire

You spread belief
Through pain and grief
Whilst poisoning your soil
Consumed by greed
It’s what you need
And all for which you toil
Open your eyes
See through the lies
This life’s not made of oil
An alien’s view
I give to you
Before this world you spoil

Regret not that which you have done,

But take the historic view, when have we been any different?  Sure, the opportunity is there for change, for improvement.  But 2000 years ago we hung the one who pointed the way, and we've been hanging all his followers as they show up and make a fuss.

This is not a religious piece, rather an observation of the childlike behavior mankind insists upon continuing. Thank you for reading and responding.

You just can't get good flint anymore....and obsidian is so blasted expensive if you're more than a day's walk from the mountain....

...but poetry this strong is even harder to come by! I disagree with your hypothesis, but I like your work with it very much.

Ratleader: So true my friend and seeing as how I’m more than a day’s walk from the mountains I’m glad I kept my skateboard after all these years…lol! Or maybe I can talk my son out of his bike! Oh yeah, the tires are petroleum based too…bummer.

Loved your response, thanks!

passing shadows: Thank you too, I’m glad you liked it.
