Please Don’t Eat the ‘Shrooms

About this time of year, the mushrooms sprout
beneath the redwood trees, capped heads popped out.
Folks don’t know better, walking through the wood,
pickin’ the 'shrooms, thinkin’ they’ll be good.
They cook them up with garlic, or toss them with bok choy,
mix them with spaghetti or sprinkle on light-soy.

But if those 'shrooms turn blue or a silvery-black,
if they’re scaly and warty, they could be death caps!
First you’ll turn yellow, then you will quiver,
next thing you know, they’re eatin' your liver.

So please, do not eat the fungus
if you want to stay among us.

Yep! Unless you buy the shrooms
from the grocery store's veg. room.

love mushrooms...had them for dinner last evening...always check to make sure first they are fresh and second they must be washed !!!!
