Almost unthinkable
Lips moving closer, closer
Organizing voices
Covered by winter parks
We froze, but lay side by side
I’m sorry…my friend, I’m so sorry

You reached for my hand and squeezed
Whispering…
“Give me a xeroxed copy of that kiss”
I blushed and kissed you long and hard
You promised I was safe
And I was….in that time

Now, we no longer sleep in the same room
Pity, those summer nights we shared
Needle point, looked through your front window
Singing clear and fine
Loved those times, the picnics
our shared journals...
Wrapped in a thin gown, you said you loved to listen to
Breezes came in the screen
Life sang for us…

Kept looking through, pages of drawings
You left of nude women
Misused by their peers
Funny how I’d spent most of my life
In innocence…wondering where I’d been?
Wondering where the world is...was?
It moved so fast
That frustrated me…that small town concept.

But now, in the autumn
It seems like drawings pressurize my hands
Like you did, once
With a kind of mysterious grace
I have grown into the quietest kind of rebel
One on the verge of suspension
Yes, I’m a better woman because of you
And death will be different

Out of duty…out of some painfully fine
And accomplished relinquishing…comes
A stunning achievement…..”Love”
I felt you before I saw you
But I had a choice, so did you

We were souls that floated and spun in masses
Clambering inside the air
Warm electrifying sparks along my neck
Arms…face, & hair
We abandoned human flesh
And I still love to watch those secret pleasures
Choreographed from somewhere far away

I am a new woman because of you
And that energy is inside it
Repairing the most basic fabric
Life knows the right things

Normalcy happens whining in loud complaint
Day to day life, becomes my hero
Normalcy wears a different meaning
For everyone else
That’s ok...it’s as always been

I’ll fight tooth and nail for you, my friend
So that you sleep by soft lullaby
In the words of her arms
Grabbing the smile you reflect
Kissing it soft and hard
Soft muffled sounds of morning
Embrace the ocean of what is…
Waves gently rolling up the sides of our ships
That passed in the night...

Hugs to you my sweet man
I still pretend I am in the warm hold of your arms
And probably am…at times

LeeJ
A string and beads to sew a space
To weave a cloth of human grace
To sweeten times epiphany
And straighten out eternity
Good morning sweet.

Good Morning Lee ... this is just spectacular. I think it's probably my favorite of all your wonderful writings.

A keeper for sure ... hugs, Marti

My dear Lee J
You are in top form here!
Not surprising, not for you,
Oh devine artist, queen of the pen!
How sweet and at the same time, how stinging!
Wonderful, romantic, A true feeling, captured
and told.
Love you...Rene`...Zippi

Lee J,

Remarkable is a good title for such poetic passion and imagery.  I couldn't put this down!  It has a drive of its own!

There is never a time that you write that it is not only stunning but most assuredly exceptional.

Fabulous Lee..your choice of words and the way you convey them will never leave me...this has nostalgia, and a coming to terms feeling, but you do it with anyhting but a ''normal way'' of writing it, it is extraordinary and the reason i love it so much...thank you..

in our minds

then we turn the rooms
and wonder how we lost them

those things we left behind
