My Dear Lady O’,

who in loneness waits,
Mine quest forges on and this very day
Hast delivered me before a vast ocean.
Upon which monstrous waves arise
The size of which I doubt naught have seen.
They rise and crash in thunderous roar
With force and sound that shakes the very shore
Upon which mine steed and I are bound.
And in the roil of water and sand, swirling,
At the horses feet I did espy
A glint of red, rolling by.
Swiftly alighting from the steed
I did cast mine self upon the sand
And snatched the object to my hand.
And before the great ocean wouldst
Send a great wave to snatch at me,
Your Errant Knight retreated, somewhat hastily.
Now upon my palm I stared
At what I had previously clutched therein,
A tiny wet, glistening stone in red,
Did thereupon reside.
I plucked it twixt my fingers
And turned it from side to side
Its shape not quite perfect, yet,
This tiny stone, a human heart I held,
T’is truly a wondrous treasure to behold.
In the air it dulled somewhat as it dried
And as I pressed it to my palm
I swear, a beat I felt, in tune with mine.
Swiftly a pouch I found,
And placed the stone inside.
The drawstrings I did draw tight
Then placed them round my neck.
With pouch tucked safe within my vest
I felt the beat in unison
With that therein my chest.
T’is then I knew this stone of old
Flowed with love for one I would hold.
So now I ride, a city I know, in the northwest
For there, is a gold master to shape for thee
A gold clasp and chain to hold the stone tight.
Then a courier with steed of steel
I shall tithe, to speed this tiny treasure
To thee dear Lady O’.
And when you place the chain upon your neck
And the stone does nestle just so
A’twixt the valley of thine breast
Our hearts shall beat as one
Until mine quest is done.

Forever, your Errant Knight.

Dearest Knight

Tears stain this face on a morn
when the horizon's light
sets a glimmer of hope
where feelings not thought present
in another, seem to be growing.

This Lady watches from the tower, seeking
'cross the many miles, not knowing why
This Errant Knight
finds comfort in mind of She.

Struggling in loneliness
bound by the tormenting dreams,
her own waves of indecision and resolve to go forth
tendering the emotional bruising
leaves an opening in that wall that rises
as each day passes.

Thy quest keeps Thee
in far off places whilst She must
be staid with a heart that longs.

There is no other
who can bestowest 'pon this wanting,
for This Lady hast been left in a place
where love once was,
where she wore it like a cloak,
pride in every and all,
by another
who chose to forsake her
and travel on.

Thy finding brings a smile to lips
that have missed such.
