THE WITCH'S TOMB
~ Linda L. Dowd

‘Tis nigh on two centuries,
Since a witch was thrown in well.
The townsfolk covered it with earth,
Confining her in hell.

For years the land developed,
Around the witch’s tomb.
But no one built upon it,
For the air was dense with gloom.

On Devil’s Night, two years ago,
I joined friends on ghost walk,
We went to sites where specters roamed,
And to lane ways they did stalk.

We gathered in a clearing,
By a wood lot lit by moon.
I left the group and head for well,
And soon fell in a swoon.

I felt the pain and sorrow,
Of the witch that lie beneath.
I heard her calling out to me ~
For help ~ ‘twas my belief.

I connected with her spirit,
Sent pink light to give her rest.
She swiftly rose up from the well,
And slammed in to my chest.

The shaman saw the entity,
Attempt to take my soul.
He threw himself upon me,
And downhill we did roll.

The leader of the ghost walk,
~ A parapsychologist of great fame,
Kept me from the hanging tree,
In case more spirits came.

I am an open channel,
And it’s best I stay away,
From places spirits congregate,
Like those that Devil’s Day.

Then a few months later,
The area was razed to ground.
And buildings were built upon it,
~ For the witch had flown the town!

‘Tis nigh on two centuries,
Since a witch was thrown in well.
The townsfolk covered it with earth,
Confining her in hell.

Sometimes it is a needful thing to be set free again to walk the Earth.

Susan ~

Thank you. I enjoy writing them ~ but when they are from my personal experiences, they practically write themselves.

Dear Box of Ice ~

Yes, I do believe that I was able to set her spirit free. I did not feel that she was evil at all. She was just over-exuberant when she was finally released from the well. I had several paranormal experiences that night that would curl your hair!!! My friends were witnesses to them and they still can't stop talking about that night! lol

Linda, I went to New Orleans awhile ago with my roommate who had business there and he introduced me to a witch. We spent most of the day together.

It was quite an experience, I must say.

Susan ~

Thanks, Sparkles! ~ but it was far from being a delightful experience for me at the time! I earned more than a couple of white hairs that night! Scared To Death
