We already know
through the unspoken
similarities of life and living
of right and wrong,
living and existing,
of hurting and hopelessness.

That the feeling of today
may scar us in the tomorrows to come.

We breathe on dirty windows
in hopes of spelling out our fears
giving warning to a world
of warmth and chill.

And still we try.

It’s our nature
to keep looking for similar skin
an eye depth equal to our own
a reflection of common participation.

We ache for whispered words
that will break the chains
binding us to yesteryears.

Searching, always searching
stumbling over our own feet,
running into invisible walls.
Deceiving ourselves into believing
they need not be overcome.

We are weak from lack of comprehension.
Stagnant at times by self-induced weight,
immobilized with doubt.

Still we go forward
hoping for salvation
from ourselves.

Longing for recognition,
a realization of worthiness.

This is mine to you.

What introspection!  Wow!

Your entire poem swept me away! Especially liked:

"We breathe on dirty windows
in hopes of spelling out our fears
giving warning to a world
of warmth and chill.

And still we try.

It’s our nature
to keep looking for similar skin
an eye depth equal to our own
a reflection of common participation."

To say we are our own worst enemy,  might
be appropriate....and we are also our own
salvation,  as you have pointed out.

And we still hunger for certain things,
I know I do.  Nice write Susan,  much
wisdom within this poem.

Word whispered here
admits no chains
for it is clear
decisions' reins
devoid of fear
dissolve the pains
of yesteryear -
and what remains
may forwards steer ...

Search IS Way

The way is part of search as search part of the Way
or, put another way, both (p)lay convergency.
"MAGE, GAME' are writ the same, 'PAGE, GAPE' as 'what will be'
within one’s spirit may forth fountain, fashion clay
where cause~effect convey through facettes on display
hide opportunity ‘neath surface pottery.
Let not the past outweigh, tomorrow's harmony,
to no set, sect or church afford leeway to prey.

Expand emotions' perch - self-doubts will slip away
as will those blocks within you hope no others see -
yet which both dam the stream, brake creativity,
divert flow which, at sea, on confidence must weigh.

Let Search and Way combine, refine and catalyze
by Chance or by Design the urge to real...eyes !

./.
This is mine to you.

Life : A finite succession of infinite opportunities

Poetry : Open sharing of individual ability to channel creative soul-song AWAY from the ego

Excellent writing, Susan. To keep searching is vital and to be happy with what you have is also equally important. Plant your seeds - don't wait for someone to bring you flowers.

I am very impressed by your abilities
