in the shadows

Our souls are as a garden
to a planter’s Moon,
I watch you dancing naked
wrapped in a life force tune
where all the sane of human
was left at the borderline,
and I stand simply wondering
how it could be you are mine
when we have no possessions
as possessed in truth we be;
the choice of life
and breathing
in themselves are barely free,
as lightly as your toes touch down
upon luminescent stones,
like some magic fluid steel,
I am running heavy
with the weight of life I feel
coursing through my sanity,
pulling at my bones;
Spring is fire in your eyes
and lightning on the bough,
the past another country,
the future only now,
I’ve no hope for survival
against Valkyries’ ride,
I am but a donor,
raindrops lost before the tide,
a mirror to what must be,
me who won’t believe in Fate,
praying in the rushes
that Time’s river won’t be late;
you are but the seed row
and I am but a seed,
and I will die believing
through love our souls were freed.

They're not freed....except in this way: by their loving, a little space is created that is not world and not spirit bound....it is separate, unique, and the domain of two only. It's so fragile a wrong touch can shatter it, but it is all they have that is truly free.

"how it could be you are mine

icebox

Your poem made me think of this part of a poem of mine.

Then I feel the warming fire
From the hands across the seasons
For it’s in the cart of favorites
Walking with me into April

No matter what the season's heart song
It is the window that opens inward
That is the music from the corner
of going home

Your poem is beautiful!

I found this to be quite touching to my tender thoughts - stirring -

the weight of life pulling at my bones--what a concept.  And I love that last line, simply love it.

when push comes to shove, realistically, what else is there?  It is all we have...adding, we learn so much by giving of ourselves, which I believe you have executed here....Bless you dear poet...this was a sad, but delightful read...does that make any sense?

Your poetic mind is a garden meadow, that blooms and grows so freely.

And such a lovely place to read~

so very true and yes, I know, I agree
and this was just beautiful, icey.

I loved these lines:

I am running heavy
with the weight of life I feel
coursing through my sanity,
pulling at my bones;

From my next poem.

Each bead drops down upon the string
A sling that echoes prayers in wring
A sense of flight to right a wrong
The tethers of a minds sarong
