'Twas in the darkened early morn
When light traipsed softly in its rise
Beheld the coming toward of Knight
In black on horseback, smile in eyes.

For He, the one who stole mine heart
Returning now from duty's call.
Awaiting, I, in arms to warm
and tenderly in hold to fall...

'Twas She the one He kissed the last
Then 'pon His steed rode forest bound
The Lady, She in kerchief thoughts
Gave treasured love, to carry 'round.
