(************Hanky-Alert! ************)

This is a sensitive tearjerker for all children with autism and their parents who cope in the struggles in raising their blessed little hearts!

I have lived with Asperger's Syndrome virtually all my life, and as a little boy I was always depressed and felt I was always doomed to live the world alone and forgotten! But with being blessed the gift and ability to speak and communicate with others, I truly believe God has blessed me and truly loves me, and that is how I have been close to God ever since and found joy in my life!

Sadly so many other autistic children in the world sometimes live their whole lives never being able to communicate or speak, and every day I always pray for these little misunderstood angels and also that they have caring parents who can always devote their unconditional love and caring to them every day.

I used some of my favorite lyrics from a Disneys movie "The Rescuers" to shape up the chorus in this poem, as Disney movies always made me happy and gave me heart hugs and solace during the most depressing, saddest times, and these lyrics couldn't resonate any more true to my heart! )

Ellipses and Trapezes
By: Noah Eaton

"Be brave little one.
Make a wish for each sad little tear.
Hold your head up though no one is near
Someone's waiting for you.
Don't cry little one.
There'll be a smile where a frown used to be
You'll be part of the love that you see.
Someone's waiting for you."

Little one, I know that this is hard,
and I know that this is tough,
you feel as though your heart has been ripped out,
and the world revolves around you too much,
it feels as though you're like some alien,
it feels as though you just don't belong,
I know you may be different,
but rest assured God loves you just as much,
you feel like a late bloomer,
all your tasks broken down into small manageable stages,
thirty-five hours every week,
all this 1:1 music therapy,
all these barrages of hearing tests,
all these gluten/casein free diets,
can feel so strange,
sometimes you feel trapped inside,
you hide your eyes, bury your head, you want to cry,
Lord knows no one but Him will ever fully understand you,
but we're learning more every day, as am I,
you see, you're lucky to have a mother who loves you so,
even when you feel tortured or overwhemed and it may not seem so,
but most would only dream to ever have a mother so tender and mild,
who would dedicate themselves hours each day for their child,
it makes me feel so emotional seeing you making progress,
I feel I've done so much but often I feel I should confess,
that I wish I could only be capable of so much more,
sometimes I feel as though I'm failing you if I'm not sweating out of every pore,
but I couldn't be any more proud of you, you're an angel to gaze upon,
like yesterday when you were a happy little boy practicing Makaton,
the sight of you clapping your hands giggling made me have to leave the room,
crying myself to joy and before I knew, I had napped and the afternoon was through,
wow, how'd I only dream for a world where everyone could be sympathetic to your needs,
that's what I fear the most as you get older, it always makes me worry,
where some see this which he's afflicted with is some type of disease,
when I just feel this is all just a matter of ellipses and trapezes...

"Be brave little one.
Make a wish for each sad little tear.
Hold your head up though no one is near
Someone's waiting for you.
Don't cry little one.
There'll be a smile where a frown used to be
You'll be part of the love that you see.
Someone's waiting for you."

Forgive him for every moment he is aggressive, sometimes even violent,
you know it's not really him, he means well and he's just different,
like that day when you decided to ban him from the swimming pool,
because he was obsessed with water, almost drowning before he could ever set foot in school,
forgive him when he shouts and covers his ears in public,
he's just intimidated by crowds and loud noises, it leaves him feeling qualmish,
Lord knows everyone could use some time in their life's little spaceship,
it's only a matter of time before everyone comes down to want to observe this planet,
please don't despair of those many instances your kid gets in time out,
at his youth group at the church where a break of routine can make him shout,
sometimes it can even feel he is kidnapped from his bedroom,
I know how hopeless it can seem, but it would all get better soon,
you see, I see in his beady little eyes a little bit of me,
your mother will always love you the way you are, you'll pull through, you will see,
I know everything may be blurry now, but soon this will make more sense, it will all mean something,
your mother is perfect to you, and you are perfect to me...

"Be brave little one.
Make a wish for each sad little tear.
Hold your head up though no one is near
Someone's waiting for you.
Don't cry little one.
There'll be a smile where a frown used to be
You'll be part of the love that you see.
Someone's waiting for you."

"Always keep a little prayer in your pocket...
.
.
.
.
.
...and you're sure to see the light...
.
.
.
.
.
...soon there'll be joy and happiness...
.
.
.
.
.
...and your little world will be bright..."

This is a beautiful poem Noah. I work with an autistic boy at the high school I work at. To me he is one smart kid.

Poetry is beauty in words.

I understand this one completely, Noah, as I have worked with such a child. Genius level IQ seems to be fairly commonplace with these children.
Patience is always the key.

Awwwwwww, thanks, dearest sweetpoetess! I just read your poem too, which is absolutely beautiful and I know Tim is blessed with the loving care and compassion you offer him each day!

God Bless You, dearest Kacy! I have an IQ of 142 (not meaning to brag, by the way, LOL!) but just wanted to point that out in understanding it is indeed a trend. And so many friends I work with in my protest group, etc. always say, "Wow, you don't strike me as someone autistic, you speak so well and articulately!" (blushes softly) But I am absolutely grateful I can communicate with others, because it brings great joy and faith to my heart that God undoubtedly loves me and looks over me.

Yay, heart hugs to you both!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Noah, perhaps you were given added challenges coming into this world, so that you could help others with compassion and understanding. God also blessed you with many talents that you have used to reach out and touch others. You have a beautiful spirit and soul. You are love personified, my dear angel friend!

Love & Light,
Linda
