There may be target practice.
An arrow set to meet the center
launched from a taught cord
sails across the air and lands

At first it hits an outer ring
but the archer persists
for the goal is the center
nothing like the top score
for the sake of a target

With an arrow launch
a pistol shot
a shot put throw
something has to sail the air
cross air, land and sea

Target practice
streaks across the heavens
all below the watchful eye
of commanding civilizations;
with arrows launched,
goals persist
winter harvest is near.

Don't know about teaching everyone but even those unable to stretch their minds beyond standard poetry forms can find something, I think..

As an archer...

I really like this piece, Martin.

Thank you!

Then there are target practice poets among us. I do better throwing darts!
