walking the surreal

I look into the mirror
and it is not me that I see
rather a reflection
of the world around me

there is no gender
no race or ethnicity
it is merely an image
of the face of humanity

see, we are all the same
beneath the superficial
flesh, bones, heart and soul
the other is simply incidental

our blood flows red in need
our heart beats in supplication
we all seek the tender touch
of another’s recognition

open your heart to understanding
let compassion be your guide
remember it is the quest for happiness
to which we humble humans stride

look through the mirror
see beyond the glass
it is all our faces there
within the image cast

s.a.t.

If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . .

look past reflection
look beyond the obvious
peer with grand intent

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

The quest for happiness is a universal language, unlike compassion.
Some people not only speak it fluently, but understand the meaning better than others.

Loved your poem, you are beautiful here, Susan~
