Little hopalong just passed by my window
and reminded me once again why

I throw apple cores and bread crumbs out
underneath those scraggly dirty bushes
(lol, nothing political here)

and even though he is just a dinghy grey squirrel
the creator of planet Earth loves him too,
(maybe even more than some other two leggeds)
and then the birds fly down
from those noisey overhead utility wires
(the ones I curse daily except when I remember
where my internet connection comes from)

and by the end of the day
there will be no more unsightly crumbs
left to decay or rot or pollute the scenery

unlike the plastic and non-biodegradable
over-packaged-over-rated-over-the-edge-goods
that must be piled up alongside the road each Tuesday
for a big noisey truck to take them away
from everyone's neighborly window view

whew
and all this verbiage and wordage,
just from looking out the living room window
on a Sunday afternoon in sub urb yee haw

(betcha thought it was goin to be an easter bunny write have to wait another month for that one)

This made me laugh so hard.

Poetry is beauty in words.

Ah Kacy..
I feed my little squirrel friend every noon hour.
He comes and waits for his peanuts on the back porch.
I swear one day he may run right into the house.
Then the birds have the crumbs from the
toaster..
Can't wait till the snow is gone and I can watch nature from my garden!
Hugs~Nancy

Glad you got a chuckle, Julie.
Nancy, one of those little rascals used to come inside my cabin in Alaska all the time, caused me beaucoup problems.

Ah, sweetheart...

We...have "Shortaile" and we are not quite sure why he has a "short-tail" but we have also noted with field glasses that he has a scarred ear, and seems to be the "daddy" of the pack. He jumps, they run...

A few years ago, we had a "silverback" squirrel in our backyard. [We are infamous for feeding anyone who comes by...] and old SB hasn't been seen for the last two seasons so I am sure he lost his footing along the way of wires and such...

I liked this, Kacy...and I think poetry in all of its forms needs to encompass all of life's forms.  So, my thanks, lady....on a smile, and a place.

Yes, Jaime, LOL. Unless you manage to get them to land right underneath that old tree outside. Better to set them out in a bird feeder, from which squirrels are famous for stealing treats. Good luck on your tests tomorrow, thanks for that email!
