Gentle sunshine
shrouds a night far too unkind.

I sip my coffee
hoping the sun will warm
the chill of blood left behind
in veins that used to flow without flaw.

I ponder the mistakes I have made
wondering why they still haunt my dreams.
Leaving me feeling lost and afraid
that no one is worthy.

I dreamed last night of frozen fetal pigs
being grilled to life
and wonder what they represent.

Maybe I just need to stay away from bacon.

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"
~Sarah McLachlan~

Stay away from the rinds, too...
I thoroughly understand this one...

Susan,
It's the old bacon and egg symbols.
The eggs are the beginning and the bacon the end. LOL

OH MY GOODNESS!  This reminds me when I went to NYC for an art field trip.  Not so unusual except my fetal/fatal pig traveled along because I didn't have time to run home before the bus left.  My roommates appreciated his essence, I'm sure!

No, seriously I enjoyed how you took me on an emotional journey and brought me home safely with your added humor.  Neat write!

big hugs...I watch that innocence in my grand daughter, that profound trust...and ponder...what if's...but then, realize...sadly, that it will take both good and bad experiences to give her wisdom...

God, this was a good write
