Far away in the air a bird of the world
flies well in the freedom to be
the true essence of soul manifested
and not merely a figment of dreams.

Wings abreast and open to more,
excited, I bet, and in awe
at the power within so confined
that enables the beauty of flight
beyond bridges and solid walls
made by the old order of “things”.

And “things” are diverse and varied
prone first to shout then whisper instead
like a child attracting his mother
and a mother dropping sound levels.

It’s the drop of “things” down onto earth
that suffocates voice in the throat
and halts the distraction of outdated modes
intent on holding at a safe distance
the full spectrum and knowledge of soul.

So says that bird up there in the air
draped so in mystique and magic
till it drops down to earth
nothing more than a bird
and a common old “thing” with wings.

And too I’m a common old thing with wings
if I can believe in the new order of “things”.

The bird of freedom flies around the globe, sadly your neighbours in Zimbabwe are not so lucky, the bird is not free to fly but caged, and sings a desperate tuneless song..one day when prayers are answered it will take to wings of freedom again...a good write...thank you..

Yes, indeed, Goldenrose.  Many both here and there sing a desperate song but perhaps some things just have to be in the breaking down of old and the birth of new.  The whole world is in a sad state - one can't help but wonder why.  Thanks so much for the read.

Can curled body find relief
or just one song like I believe
from the front row of memories room
sing me sweet then into tune
I am harmony unglued and left to scatter
seeking wings to fly is what's the matter

Hi Helen...your words took me back to this one of mine...

Dixie - thanks so much for the read and for commenting.

Martie - "I am harmony unglued and left to scatter
seeking wings to fly is what's the matter"

How beautifully said!  I guess we'll have to wait for the "new order of things" before we can fly but meanwhile the growing of wings can be a most painful experience.

Wonderful thoughts to ponder!
You are lovely,  Helen dear~

Thank you, dear Bluesy.  Lovely is as lovely does and sometimes harsh reality brings forth the "unlovely" ... but only until we learn there's a better way of handling it all.  Take care!
