Beyond the tone of everyday
yet within the rage of heart
love chooses words I understand
and speaks emotionally
while the echo of its honesty
dances frenzied as before
in avoidance of
my forgetfulness.

Unconcerned and disregardful
of a mind in disarray
love bleeds in me the blood of soul
and infuses through my veins
the divinity of one who knows
I cannot turn away.

Inflexible at best is the net of love’s intent
weaved and laced beyond this realm
and made indestructible
by empathetic hands.

And in the knowing spaces
need begs I still believe
but combatant reality
overpowers every dream
and drapes around my shoulders
the shawl of withdrawal.

Cuddled so and warm
and distanced from it all
avowals of the soul
become as “penny horribles”
sold on street corners
to pedestrian traffic.

There’s a river over there
next to a Willow tree
where the solid to my touch
reclines in fearfulness
while love meanders free
into my every dream!

Are you writing in reference to the Myth?

“Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd
His skin was pale and his eye was odd
He shaved the faces of gentlemen
Who never thereafter were heard of again
He trod a path that few have trod
Did Sweeney Todd
The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.”
“The Ballad of Sweeney Todd” By Stephen Sondheim

Enjoye the read.

Thanks for the read JL.  Maybe those who were never heard of again are the ones who ... "stalk my dreams" - could be, I guess.
