Your once strong and solid life was taken away and no one even asked.

You left us wrapped up in a blanket of warmth and then you threw the blanket off and were left shaking and cold.

You only came to visit our dysfunctional family a few times, we were once so close.  We cared and shared and even prayed.

When you emerged from the silence that was once so loud you were different, we all started to change and we could'nt stop.

The new you was frail and sad, but then we your family were sad.

You wore a mask a new and scarey mask.  You had become El Moff Le' Oh, I wish the past was still today.

I still LOVE you, but I miss you too. Our dysfunctional family is gone and that to is hidden by your new mask.

El Moff Le' has taken so much.  Our hearts and our souls are trying to be strong.  I wish the past was still today.

Gina, dear friend....this brought tears to my eyes.  For those who don't know, this poem is about my husband and his cancer.  He wore a mask during his radiation treatment, and kiddingly called himself El Moff Le', because he though he looked like a muffler.  Cancer changes so much....I see, not just him and me.

I lived through something quite like this as a child.  It was the first time I learned that all things change, all things end.  I was too young at the time and put the awareness very far down in the sub-basements of my mind.  I had not thought anything could have opened that door again.  The simplicity of your words found immense power in the imagery you crafted. Thank you for sharing this here.  Welcome to PiP!

Gina, hello again. It was so good to meet you that one time back in October, and it is good to see you posting again, and reaching out to let your friends know that their pain became your pain as well.

Sometimes, when we don't know what to do, it takes time to know what to say.

Welcome home.
