MY TRAVELS

I’ve traveled many highways,
Backstreets and country roads.
I’ve had my share of burdens,
And carried many loads.

Some days the sun was shining,
While on others it did rain,
~ Both good and stormy weather,
From the sublime to the inane.

No matter what the byway,
And regardless of the street.
I made my way along them,
With my will and plodding feet.

Some laneways ~ they were easy,
With descent in gentle slope.
My spirits would be soaring,
And my heart full of hope.

At times the roads were straight,
While others, they did bend.
Some paths led up a mountain,
And never seemed to end.

But I kept trudging onward,
~ One foot in front of other,
Greeting those along the way,
As my sister or my brother.

Most often I was happy,
Tho’ at times I did complain.
But then the sun would light my way,
And chase away the rain.

The more roads that I travel,
The more of life I see.
I grow in understanding,
As I get in touch with me.
