Endless Dream
I dreamt I was there, a mere whisper away.
Sails full, a prevailing wind, and insistent wave after wave.
A’ port were cliffs from past dreams, and ghost, alive,
alive, and among the living…

“Put aside those fears of that past…”
My mind, at times was reeling.
Then at last,
I saw your sweet smile again.
And reminisced where it was, that we began…

You recognized my sails, and waved…

Then, as quickly as you had appeared, you were gone.
Faded into a cross-wind, with fallen leaves into the sea
Breaking whitecaps crashed against my bow
and sea birds were laughing at me…

“Time is not your beloved friend…”
a thunder storm spoke as it raised up the sea,
against me.Then again:
“You true love is vanished, as did the wind.”

My fist clinched into the storm, I yelled:
“YOU NEVER WARNED ME ABOUT TIME.
YOU NEVER WARNED ME ABOUT TIME!”
As a pouring rain met with my tears…

I startled myself awake,
as I do every night of the year.
Drenched in sweat,
salt of the sea, my tears
and remembrances of you
when time was ours, and we had no regret
and we were in love
a timeless love, so true…

JL,

How true!  I can hear this in my endless dream.   Per chance, can you tell I identify with your well written poem?

"“YOU NEVER WARNED ME ABOUT TIME.
YOU NEVER WARNED ME ABOUT TIME!”

Enjoyed the quality of thought and word.

JL, I had one of those recurring dreams... only mine involved being separated by war.  It haunted me for years.  Your poem touched me deeply.  Lovely write on a heart-wrenching topic.   .....jo

'“Time is not your beloved friend…”
a thunder storm spoke as it raised up the sea,"

I was talking to a friend today about time and how it moves at different speeds depending on who is watching it or waiting for it.  Enjoyed this colorful and passionate dream of  yours....but wish it had a happy ending.
