a million stones on roads are layed
where people walked and talked and prayed
from early days in history
so many tales still mystery
tears of joy and sorrow spilled
who knows how many dreams fulfilled
kisses stolen in the night
children playing in sun's light
a million stones on roads are layed
where people walked and talked and prayed

This photo was taken at the museum village Orvelte, up North in the province Drenthe.
The whole village was declared 'museum' long time ago.

What a wonderful piece of writing, Titia.I ofthen think of things like that....sort of like "if these walls could talk", looking at apartments and imagining all of the things their walls have seen. A cobblestone road....imagine all of the thousands of people who have used that road, dating back hundreds of years and the stories of each. Lovers walking, people running, carts carrying milk, carts carrying weapons....the echoes of the cobblestones echoing the passages of time...I love this poem.

Wow Titia, this was truly exceptional.  It has really made me think of many things after reading it.  I loved the scene, so old that I wish that walk could talk.

Beautiful...
both the poem and the pictue.
I love to imagine the people that walked somewhere before me,
what friendships were made and tears shed.
Great job, Titia.

Hi Titia, the rock lover that I am, just went crazy over this poem and the picture.

We are heading to Prague in April; how I wish we could see you. But, you are far from the Czech Republic.

Thank you all very much for the lovely replies. I always want to take a peek in the past, just to feel the atmosphere of times gone by.
