~* He's Going To Be Mine *~

I finally got up nerve after all these years,
In high heels I went out to seek some romance.
For an old lady I figured I looked darn hot,
As I headed for that Valentine's Day Dance.

I took a breath, entered the senior's club
I passed by on my way to my room each night.
Perhaps tonight would be the night,
I’d meet Mr. Right, if my timing's right.

I ordered and sipped on my drink,
Then I noticed him gazing into my eyes.
I knew this time I couldn't run away
He'd be too much to compromise.

His eyes were blue, his hair so curly,
His smile melted me right away,
He said, “Would you like to dance”?
He took my hand and led the way.

We danced into the dark that night,
Telling each other age old stories.
As I got to know him more and more
I felt comfortable, with no worries.

For this was the man I'd been waiting for,
The same man I saw in all my dreams.
At this point I was so sure of it,
Or at least that's how it seemed.

The next night I waited for his call,
This man who'd made my dreams come true,
Finally I fell asleep by the phone,
Now I see him with a different view.

I guess to him it was just another night,
A drink, a dance, a night on the town.
I was in heaven, living a dream came true.
Now this old man had brought me down.

It takes more than just one single night,
To capture the man of your dreams,
I felt more for him that he did for me
So I’ll go back and catch him it seems.

He is definitely the man of my dreams,
I'm not going to let him get away,
No matter how long it takes to catch him
He’s definitely going to be mine one day!

Just a silly little poem for my senior friends at a Senior's home.

~* Happy Valentine's Day Everyone *~

He he, thanks! - the beauty of writing for them is they think I am just "terrific" and what a payoff.  Anyway off I go to decorate the gym.  They are so darn cute those people I tell you.  Thanks everyone!

I have worked with both seniors and young people ~ and ofttimes the difference lies only in the condition of their bodies! Many a young spirit has been locked in an old and failing body. It's so often true what they say, "Youth is wasted on the young!" It would be a perfect world if the wisdom of the aged could be visited upon the young and the physical youthfulness of the young could be enjoyed by the old!

Keep spreading your loving and caring ways, Dear One! You are making a difference in this world!

Love & Light,
Linda

I was just heading out the door but wanted to say Linda - you know you are telling the truth girl!  I could tell you stories of their antics in there that would curl your hair.  I think we are children first, then adults, and thank God he lets us be children for a second time, only smarter   They are monkies in that place I swear!  They will enjoy your comments - I printed them too.  Thanks everyone and remember you are never to old for a Valentine right?

So many cliches come to mind here. "No fool like an old fool....Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all," no carpe diem in this write. I enjoy it for what it is and its kind intentions (but know that this could have been written by a male as well)

Wow, dear Sharon, this is sooo lovely and cute.
The last verses are perfect insofar they also are encouraging not to give up, at whatever age ...
My compliments also for what you do!
Love and hugs.

This is so adorable!
I've spent all my life around seniors and plan to work with them as soon as I get out of highschool... they're so much fun to be around! And there's nothing quite like a cute little old couple dancing or holding hands. You should tell some of those stories! lol
Great poem!

I know this is sad, but one way that I detour my 15 year old daughter from having relations too early is to remind her that Grandma and Grandpa still do it. We never get too old to dance do we??? (Smiles) Enjoyed reading and I am certain that the Seniors will enjoy your poem as well. Happy Valentine's day. -Bob

My Lord Bob, you just made my day that was hilarious!  Wait until I tell the folks what you just said here.  Thanks for enjoying everyone, and by the way, you can stop aging by continuing to think young, honest!  I am!
