Less Guarded Now

Let longing slumber in the untamed naiveté of lace,
for my close-mouthed melodies truckle nigh,
and I'd broach not the unspoken without the hearts' leave-taking.

A sigh by chance can hold desire at bay,
but a breath can also kindle wantonness if there be smoke.

Smudged by the ink that inundates my mouth,
enamored by the tepidness of need,
verse would skate to tongue willingly if I dreaded not ache.

But alas,
as it is,
the well out of which my soul sprung...
came into this woodland of agrarian blossoms,

(whose illusions' course a little deeper,)

from this reservoir called love,
and being ardor she was betrothed to heartache when eyes first kissed.

Immerse need into divergent streamlets,
silver-gilt waters which course thither,
rivulets which bear the sodden hues' I have no use for this day,
for I am naught without my heart,
and this soul is barren bereft of thee.

One sigh held cherished yet flawed,
pigmented in ashes,
is all it takes,
and the wound lasts forevermore.

As I toss calenture into the currents that brought forth ardor,
in blamelessness,
inclemency will slumber.

Forged into the sensual blush-rose of lips,

(as they cleave forevermore to tongue,)

language is the vellum wing of vulgarity,
bloodied by lethargic need.

What I can't voice,
are the truisms,
that reach a stone's throw from the weaves of our endearments,
the effulgence of our love.

Unexpected...these words scribbled in sand,
for they are brusque concessions fettered o'er regret,
blemishes which swell and costume me in the colors of desire,
yearning…
praying that amidst this text,
you can interpret what was left implied by supple lips,
less guarded now.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

the final stanza really closed this for me .. you manage to make the feelings new every time i read you ... love how that happens.

perhaps it is just my mood - but this really reached in and tugged the ache in my heart - the intensity of and sometimes unbearable measure love can evoke within the heart -

I thought of my guard earlier today while reading the bare of some souls - must be the dueler in me - or the warrior - don't know, but still - to lower my guard is amazingly difficult - and then I see so many hearts that seem to bare so much here upon the forums and I wish I could do that more -

Enjoyed this Kevin - I think that less guarded means more open to incredible joy- ah but then there is that possibility for heart ache too, yes?
